TomTom AC Charger

So, the problem is that TomTom does not include an AC wall charger.  This might not be a problem for some people just because they only use TomTom in the car.  I can't survive in a place like Los Angeles without a GPS, mainly for the freeways.  Its embarrassing, but even though I grew up in that area, I still have no idea on how to drive from Long Beach to Pasadena, or what have you.

Still, there are many people needing a GPS for walking around, like in New York. I've actually experienced this problem in downtown LA where I'm trying to find a certain shop or restaurant and all of the address numbers are obscured.

So the problem was that I needed an AC wall adapter for TomTom, and didn't want to spend $40 on one.  I know that these things are made of cheap parts, so why do they have to charge an arm and a leg for one? I found this TomTom AC charger for only $4.

Dangerous to Use Generics?

Many manufacturers of devices claim that you can potentially fry your device by using generic chargers.  This is technically possible, but unlikely.  Since your GPS, phone, or what have you requires only 5V to charge, the amps, watts, and volts involved will almost definitely not cause you any problems.  There have been some known issues with the charger putting the GPS into PC mode, but this is easily fixable by restarting the GPS.
